OK, so if you've been reading along you know we're stuck! We took out some walls (it looks awesome!) but it's changed the "flow" of the house and now we can't decide what to do with the flooring. I've posted a slideshow of the floor plan showing how it was "floored" when we got it, and three different options for what to do now. PLEASE look at the floor plans and then answer the poll in the upper right hand corner here. We have to decide PRONTO 'cause our contractor works at the speed of light and he's going to order the materials right away. I can't slow this guy down so someone needs to SPEED ME UP!!
P.S. - you can click on this post's title ("HELP!!!") and it will play the slideshow full screen for you so you can get a better look at the floor plans and our thoughts on them.
P.S.S. - Tell everyone you know to vote!!

What about floorplan 2 with the tile contunuing the length of the family room? The way floorpaln 2 is currently seems a little odd the way the tile ends/corners off into the Family room
Texans and tile! I think I might have to change my California ways!!
it was a tough call between 1 and 2 the only determining factor was having a solid floor under the dining area.

Steve and I both agree on carpet in the whole living/dining room and tile in the kitchen, bathrooms, and entry (the last floorplan in the slideshow). Tiling just the "traffic areas" would 1) break up the openness too much, 2) limit the buyers on how they can arrange their rooms, and 3) look a little weird. But, neither of us are fans of tile in the living room -- makes it feel like a cafegymatorium:). And I know that this isn't one of the opions, but our REAL #1 choice would be hardwood floors throughout. It looks nice, is very popular, and would create continuity and a good flow through the house. I know you only asked for two cents, but there's my three:)
This is Catt on Jerome's computer because this hasn't turned up in any of my emails yet. I agree with Bonnie that hardwood floors throughout would be best. Otherwise, I'd go with #3, because I think you want the same flooring in the living and family room and carpet is cheaper. (though from a personal perspective carpet: ick!) If price is not relevant I'd go with tile throughout - main idea is - the more area is all the same surface, the bigger it will feel.
Great blog btw!!
